Game Maker Coding Tutorial

In this video we look at starting to code more than using the Drag and Drop actions that Game Maker famously has. The D&D actions are known to be very noobish and what better way to get rid of that noobish feel then start coding. If you have any questions then be sure to leave a comment or contact me on twitter; realtutsgml. If you learned something then be sure to leave a like, comment, favorite and maybe even a share.

    I have a question.
    ——————————————–
    CREATE- array[0] = vk_up
                   array[1] = vk_down
                   array[2] = vk_left
                   array[3] = vk_right
    STEP- if (keyboard_check(array))
                {
                 something()
                 }
    ——————————————-

    O my god typed in the same freaking code and it didn't do anything for me. So I thought maybe my other codes were intervening with this one somehow… and by the time I deleted all of them I saw that the room was in some physics mode, turn that off and everything worked. So make sure to turn that off when your using these particular codes.

    90 is up, 180 is left, 270 is down and 0 is right. North-East if North is 90 is 45, North-West is 135 if North again is 90, South-West is 225 if South is 270 and for South-East is 315 if South is again 270!!!! Just pointing these out!! 😀

    I just wanted to say thank you for these tutorials. I just started with game maker about a week ago and I am so overwhelmed. First off I have no programming background whatsoever so the learning curve for me is very big. I don't quite understand why your vids don't have more views. Anyway thanks again.

    looks good, you speak clearly and it's easy to follow what you're saying
    you did however make a mistake at one part. The direction for up is actually 90, your source must have been incorrect. -360,0,360,720 are all right.
