I'm about 5 years late to ask a question – but I get the following error when trying to read:

    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
    at CreateXML.readXML(CreateXML.java:26)
    at CreateXML.main(CreateXML.java:17)

I'm not understanding what causes this

Derek, you are awesome! I'm a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for Freddie Mac, and I'm kind of the low man on the totem pole (lol). You have taught a lot of stuff I need to know quick for my job. You are awesome man! Thank you so much!

Hi Derek, I noticed that you gain 500+ subscribers a day. I'm so happy for you.
btw this is the last tutorial i'll be watching for this series because i want to continue to web development. I'll watch your java algorithms tutorial after this. Hope to see your web development tutorial soon(I'm sure it's also gonna be great). Thank you for all your efforts and Godbless.

Derek, you did some great work with your tutorials! You're an amazing teacher.
I followed your java tutorials up until now, and I am looking forward to finish the playlist!
I also prefer android programming over basic java programming on computers, that's the reason I started following the playlist (I'll still program on computers though).
My question is: Am I ready to start your Android Studio playlist? (I'm still finishing this playlist)

    Keep up the good work!

Greetings, from the Netherlands (I'm 15)

I have a really crapy computer and I can't run eclipse on it, so I just compile the programs with a terminal. I will get a new compter soon, but even though, I would like to know how the libraries work before letting eclipse do the job for me, and I didn't find a single tutorial on the internet that didn't use eclipse.

  15. Derek Banas Avatar

I'll see what I can do. What do you use?

  16. TheAnat001 Avatar

Could you make a tutorial on how to install a librarie like JDom without eclipse, because some people don't use eclipse.

Thank you 🙂 I will be covering a ton of math problems in my android games tutorial

  23. Schniedelwutz Avatar

Your tutorials are didactically great! 🙂 Other topics that might be interesting to cover in the future are basic image processing (e.g. linear filters), mathematical calculations (how to convert certain formulas from math and physics to Java), calculation precision etc. That's important because most problems in IT can be boiled down to some math stuff.
